      Goose hunter rescued from Escanaba River

      A 26-year-old man was pulled from the Escanaba River on Tuesday.

      According to the Delta County Sheriff's Department, the Melvin, Michigan man was pulled from the water shortly after 2:45. Police say that he was unable to get out of the water due to ice and was spotted by nearby residents.

      The man fell in the water while goose hunting in a canoe that tipped over, according to police.

      Delta County Search and Rescue, Rampart EMS, and the Gladstone Public Safety Hovercraft responded to the scene. The man was treated for cold water exposure at OSF Hospital and was released.
