A collaborative effort by five antique stores in Western Marquette County is drawing customers into their stores. The shops are holding their Spring Forward Open House and Sale on Saturday and Sunday.
Stores participating on Saturday were Lowenstein's Antique Marketplace, Tickeled Pink and the Old Bank Building Antique Shops, all in Negaunee. The Main Street Antique Mall and 1st Street Antiques in Ishpeming also had special deals.
At Lowenstein's Antique Marketplace on Iron Street, there are twelve different antique vendors, with most items 20 percent off, according to Pat Hennessy.
"I think people are getting cabin fever and this gives them one of the reasons to get out and see what's going on and come to the open house and hopefully buy some antiques and collectables," said Hennessy.
She said there are many new items coming into antique stores this time of the year.
Across Iron Street at the Old Bank Building Antique Shops, there are more unique goods, including some hand-crafted mirrors and hand-loomed rugs. Every floor and area has something different.
The open house and sale continues Sunday at Lowenstein's, the Old Bank Building, Tickeled Pink and the 1st Street Antique store. They are all open from 11 a.m to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
