Great Lakes Recovery Centers is expanding in western Marquette County.
With $2.9 million from the U.S Agriculture Department Rural Development Fund, the agency bought the Tobin Medical Building and the former Woodland Senior Living Community in Ishpeming. The deal with Bell Hospital was finalized on Thursday.
Great Lakes Recovering Centers says the expansion was years in the making. They added that they're responding to the increased need for treatment and services for substance abuse and mental health disorders.
The most significant change will be the youth residential services moving from the Wright Street and Presque Isle Avenue location to the Woodland facility at the top of Teal Lake hill.
