Great Lakes Recovery Centers is holding its first bowling fundraiser on Saturday at Superior Lanes in Marquette Township.
The centers' primary mission is to provide a number of substance abuse treatment and therapy services to those in need throughout the Upper Peninsula.
The event's cost per person will be $10 for unlimited pizza and bowling and $3.50 per individual game. Shoe rental is $2.50. In spite of the fundraiser's serious theme, event officials say its main purpose is to give residents an opportunity to enjoy themselves.
"We'll have some doorprizes, we've got some sponsorships from organizations from around the community, gift certificates to give away. So, everyone should come out and have a good time," said Andy Chosa.
Twenty percent of all sales will go to the Recovery Centers' Compassionate Care Fund, set up for those who require services but can't afford them. The fundraiser starts at 1 P.M. and will continue throughout the day. Great Lakes Recovery Centers aims to collect at least one thousand dollars by the end of the event.
If the goal is reached and the event is a success, it will be made an annual event.
