The Michigan Clean Corporate Citizen Program and the Michigan Green Communities Challenge kicked off the first annual Upper Peninsula Green Expo in Marquette Thursday morning.
The mission of the non-profit is to help Upper Peninsula businesses and communities receive focused expertise on running green, clean & lean operations.
In addition to improving the environment, eco-friendly homes and businesses will be more sustainable and efficient.
"When you become more efficient at what you do, you find that you can begin to expand your markets, expand your technologies and become more profitable, stated USPCA scientist Tom Murray. "But at the same time, you can also improve your environmental profile and your environmental performance."
Murray says the Clean Corporate Citizen Program provides resources available to help businesses go green.
