A busy spring and summer are in store for Marquette Township.
The township announced their plan for some new additions throughout the area -- including T.J. Maxx and Petsmart.
Digging for those two stores has already started, right next to Lowes off of US 41.
"This is just a leg in that stool of keeping the economy going in this area. We've not been impacted like the rest of the state has, we're not dependent on the auto industry. We are basically service and retail-oriented. From that standpoint, it continues to make Marquette area generally the place to be to come for shopping and entertainment," Marquette Township manager Randy Girard
The township just added an Arby's to the West Town Center, and there's more to come.
"The Safety Store" and "Wild Birds Unlimited" are also set for the center.
There are more stores in the works for the plaza, but they haven't been disclosed yet.
New stores aren't the only addition to the township.
Cedarville Townhomes are adding a new apartment complex.
"There's lots of great demand in Marquette Township, and the whole surrounding county seems to be growing. There's just a lot of opportunities for young people as well as retirees in Marquette, and they all need to have a nice roof over their head. We've already had three calls from people who want to get in to our building already, and we haven't really even started it yet," Curran & Company builder Mark Curran said.
The new apartments are expected to be done by late summer.
