One nine year old girl from Gwinn celebrated her birthday in a different way.
Starr Lemay had the typical birthday party, but instead of receiving presents for herself she asked for shoe donations.
The idea came up after watching an infomercial on kids in Africa without shoes.
After talking to her mom about it she learned there are also kids locally who can't afford shoes.
Starr decided she needed to do something about it. She says a shoe drive for her birthday was what she wanted.
Friends and family supported her cause by bringing bags of shoes to her party at the Gwinn Clubhouse.
"I realize that I have so many toys and shoes. I'm going to donate some shoes make people feel better and they can walk not on a bare feet," said Starr Lemay.
Starr will donate the shoes to the women's center and local foster centers.
