The United States Marine Corps celebrated its 238th birthday Sunday.
Dressed in red, Marines from the U.P. gathered inside Vango's, a restaurant in Marquette. They used the youngest and the oldest Marine to cut the cake with a traditional sword.
The gathering is a way for Marines from all generations to come together and celebrate brotherhood.
"It's a matter of depending on each other. You can always depend on the man next to you. No matter what the situation is, if you've got a Marine on your side, he's going to be there," said Robert Bannan, Marine.
Marines are known for never leaving a man behind, and their motto is "Semper Fi" meaning "Always Faithful".
