      Head-on crash caused by woman looking down at her radio

      A crash in Chassell sent a driver and his passenger to the hospital. It happened Saturday night at 9:30 on Painesdale Road near U.S. 41.

      A 39-year-old woman was headed west on Painesdale Road, when she looked down to change the radio, she crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.

      She crashed head-on with a vehicle driven by a 51-year-old Chassell man.

      The Chassell man and his 41-year-old passenger were taken to Portage Health Hospital for their injuries.

      The Houghton County Sheriff's Office said the 39-year-old woman was not injured in the crash but she was cited for careless driving.

      The 51-year-old Chassell man was cited for operating while intoxicated.

      The accident is still under investigation.
