With this yearâ??s winter being colder than usual, more families are finding themselves in need of heating assistance. The Community Action Agency of Menominee, Delta and Schoolcraft counties, along with other local organizations, are providing assistance.
This year, the CAA has helped over 200 families and provided $190,000 in direct service.
But as the winter continues to be so harsh, more families are in need of help, and funds are running low at the CAA. They recommend calling 2-1-1 to find the best local resources.
â??There are other organizations that also received money this year that didnâ??t get it last year,â?? said the Escanaba CAA Executive Director, William Dubord. â??So, we believe there really is a whole lot of resources available in the area. Itâ??s just a matter of finding out the best place to go.â??
