Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette is raising money to help artists in South America.
On Sunday the church held a Fair Trade Market which gave people the opportunity to buy handmade items from South American artists.
The last market raised over $2,000. The money raised from the event is given directly to the artist and they use the money to pay for things like education.
"I met a lot of the women who crochet beach bags, market bags, they do table runners, they weave. They're starting to do some beading as well," said Betsy Cooper, church administrator.
Messiah Lutheran also has a sister parish in Colombia and church members visit once a year.
