Simple Kindness for Youth volunteers were in Econofoods in Houghton, working hard Saturday to make a difference for local children.
The volunteers took the place of the normal baggers at the supermarket hoping to raise monetary donations for their cause.
Simple Kindness for Youth helps students purchase items during the school year they wouldn't be able to afford.
"The thank you cards we get from the students are just amazing; we actually tear up," admitted Risa Williamson, Treasurer of Simple Kindness. "They are so grateful."
Econofoods is donating one percent of Saturdayâ??s sales to the organizationâ??s efforts.
Since Simple Kindness began in 2009, approximately $30,000 has been used to help students.
