Helsinki musicians to serenade Upper Michigan audiences

Every year Finlandia University brings musicians from the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland to serenade audiences in the U.P. with a variety of musical styles and genres.

This year, festival attendees will experience the sounds of a classical and contemporary accordionist, Ari Lehtonen, as well as a jazz and folk quintet, August Saarinen & the Vuolas Virta.

The U.P. is the second stop in America for these musicians who performed for an audience in Chicago on Monday.

The Sibelius Academy Music Festival runs through this Friday, and you can catch the rest of the shows this Thursday at the Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock and Friday at the Calumet Theatre in Calumet.

      Show times are:

      Thursday, September 26 at 2 p.m.

      Friday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m.
