A high speed chase in Marquette Thursday evening ended in a crash. It happened around 7:30 p.m. on U-S 41 in South Marquette.
Police say they pulled over the vehicle for tailgating a patrol car. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Jalen Willson Adams of Hancock, initially stopped, but then took off at a high rate of speed heading toward Chocolay Township.
Adams lost control of the vehicle across from the Birchmont Motel and crossed four lanes of traffic before crashing along the shore of Lake Superior. The vehicle rolled several times. Adams was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to Marquette General for treatment of minor injuries.
Adams is being held in the Marquette County Jail on a charge of fleeing police and obstructing an officer. His bond was set at $35,000.
