The Delta County Historical Society Archives Committee has worked, researching and providing information about Escanaba's history.
As part of this week's continuation of Esky 150 events, the city is running free bus tours of historical homes. The tour takes one hour and 15 minutes and is narrated by the vice chair of the historical society. The tour is of the outside of the homes only.
"We will be featuring a number of architecturally and historically interesting homes, from some very small working homes to some of the larger mansion-type homes along the route," said Elizabeth Keller of the Historical Society.
The maiden voyage of the historical tour began on Monday morning. Free bus tours will take place all week long, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Line-up is at 3rd Avenue South and Ludington Street.
Plan to arrive early as buses leave promptly. The tour features the home where the first motor car in Escanaba was owned and parked on the street. There are other bits of history included in the tour, and a detailed booklet of homes is also included for free.
