The Marquette Regional History Center is holding their Tombstone Detectives event this Thursday.
The event gives kids and adults a chance to learn about exceptional people who lived in the Upper Peninsula who are buried in Park Cemetery in Marquette. The History Center brings the characters to life using actors who tell the story of the historical figures. Kids will also create tombstone rubbings, investigate clues and interpret symbols on the grave sites.
"There are so many stories there, and we'd like kids to learn the stories in a fun way," says Betsy Rutz of the History Center. "We're going to have dressed up characters telling their story of living in Marquette, but we also have mysteries for kids to solve, so it's just a really neat way for kids to learn something but have fun."
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Park Cemetery. A $5 donation is suggested.
