Appreciation was shown for over 300 volunteers tonight. Hope at the Inn was celebrating the success of their first year a faith-based homeless shelter.
The free shelter rotated between seven host churches and required 250 volunteer hours per week. The shelter provided a bed to a community member in need over 300 times and served 140 dinners. The end of year celebration thanked the volunteers, and encouraged other community members to help next year.
â??We are just so grateful to be a part of this,â?? said HATI coordinator Barbara Gabriel. â??Weâ??re just hoping that more churches in Gladstone and Escanaba will come on board and itâ??s just a great opportunity and so worthwhile.â??
