Marquette General Hospital's Annual Hope Starts Here Challenge took place last week, but the positive effects of the event are still lingering.
Hospital staff say the event greatly exceeded expectations.
Pre-registration numbers for the race were very high, and a large number of participants signed up the day of the event, despite the less-than-perfect weather forecast.
The race pulled in a record turnout of 620 racers. Participants happily ran through the cold and mud in support of a great cause.
"The best thing that happened was the fact that we made nearly $20,000 to put towards our brain tumor center to fund research and patient advocacy and awareness of brain tumors," said Laurie Neldberg-Weeson, Brain and Spine Program Director at MGH.
The 2014 Hope Starts Here Challenge will take place on May 10.
