Hospital to give out $1,000 scholarships

Portage Health is giving out six $1,000 scholarships to students who are studying health care. The scholarship money comes from the Portage Health Auxiliary.

The auxiliary raised the money during their Lights of Love campaign last December. The event raised $3,000, and the hospital matched that amount for a total of $6,000.

Students who are from the four county area are eligible regardless of where they go to school. Hospital officials say they've been able to give out over 50 scholarships over the years.

â??We find it a great way to give back to the community and to our students and also potentially build our health care professionals for the future,â?? said Director of Human Resources, Robbyn Lucier.
