      Hot stuff at the Chili Challenge

      Chili lovers came to Marquette on Tuesday afternoon to try more than a dozen different types as part of the annual Chili Challenge at the Jacobetti Complex on Northern Michigan University's campus.

      More than 15 local businesses and amateurs were sharing their special chili recipes. Each chili was judged for best use of heat, most original, and best overall.

      "There are some bad ones and there are some good ones and I love just getting to judge people's cooking," said chili taster Danny Brown. "You get people like the Fishing Club here and they have awesome cooking, and just them going up against real restaurants...it's just cool to see."

      The challenge was a way to commemorate those who supported the hospitality program. All money raised will be donated to the Beacon House in Marquette.
