The Houghton County Fair is in full swing, and a new carnival business is lending a hand in the rides and entertainment this year.
Things got underway at the fairgrounds in Hancock Thursday afternoon. Spectrum Entertainment out of Ironwood set up about a dozen carnival rides, even some for the little ones. There will be a number of performances over the weekend as well, including a hypnotist and a country music artist. Fairgoers say it's a good family-friendly event they can count on every year.
"It's always been part of my childhood, and I feel like it's just a good memory for kids," says Houghton County Fair Queen Hope Bockenbach. "It's good, clean fun. I always went with my family so that was a family memory, and I just remember it's one last hurrah before school starting."
The fair will be open through Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at the box office at the fair gates.
