Humboldt Township had to alter their 150th anniversary celebration on Monday due to the rain.
Their Labor Day celebration usually includes a bridge walk, but this year they could not have it because of foul weather. That did not keep them from other festivities, however. The event hosted four members of the American Legion for their annual flag raising ceremony. The Humboldt Fire Department and EMA also hosted a recruiting drive and new gear display for their first year of operation.
â??It is a very special day for us in Humboldt as well as a very special day for our nation to address and honor our labor force and their sacrifices they have made over the yearsâ?? said Joe Derocha, Humboldt Township supervisor.
A mini parade of fire trucks circled the township hall. The fire department also had goodie bags and fire hats to give away to the kids. The morning ended with a potluck inside the hall.
