Six hundred people showed their support at the Lakeview Arena in Marquette for the 9th Annual Hopes Starts Here Challenge Saturday morning.
The challenge raises money for the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center.
People participated in the half marathon, a duathalon, a 10/5k run, as well as a leisure walk.
However, for many it's more than just raising funds it's about honoring a loved one they have lost to brain cancer and keeping their memory alive.
"It means the world to her. She misses my dad so much they were together for thirty years. He died young, he died at 52 years old so, but they still had a lot of time together. I know she looks at him being here with us each and every year," said Josh Bal
Around $35,000 was raised from the events.
All the money will go towards patient care and research.
