      Indoor shooting range gets makeover

The Escanaba Civic Center has a new and improved shooting range, thanks to a Girl Scout, her family and troop.

Mariah Kestila currently has a silver star but will soon get the highest award in Girl Scouts: a gold star. It took about 370 man-hours to repaint the floors, create shadow figure murals, and replace ceiling tiles. The project to improve the archery range started this summer, and Tuesday was the open house.

"I believe people will be able to use this facility a whole lot more since the environment is much more cleaner and friendly, as you can tell. And since it's open more, people can use it," said Mariah.

The pistol and archery range is open every Monday evening from 6 to 8:50 p.m.
