Iron Mountain voters may give council a raise

How much is your city council worth?

Iron Mountain voters could get a chance this fall to raise the pay to $40 a meeting from $10. The pay hasn't changed for nearly 30 years.

City Manager Jordan Stanchina said the current rate is one of the lowest in Michigan.

The Iron Mountain Daily News reported that the $10 pay is part of the Iron Mountain City Charter so any change needs approval from voters. There would be a cap of $2,000 a year per council member, with an additional $125 a year for the mayor.
