Ishpeming is preparing for its annual Labor Day Rally Parade. It will start at the Cliffs Shaft Museum and circle around downtown Ishpeming.
There will also be a picnic at the Lake Bancroft Park with a pasty, ice cream, and pop lunch for $4. Activities include a bounce house and washer toss for kids.
First District candidate Gary McDowell and State Representative Mike Lahti will serve as Grand Marshalls and give speeches throughout the festivities.
Organizers say almost all of Michigan's labor unions will be represented.
"Our theme is honoring America's workers because we feel they are the ones that made the Upper Peninsula, especially, and America great. I mean we got more productivity than anyone else, so that's what we're trying to do here," said Parade Chairman Russell Williams.
The parade starts at 11 a.m. with the picnic at noon.
