Ishpeming church expanding Father's Day celebration

To celebrate Father's Day, Good News Assembly of God in Ishpeming held a special celebration Sunday to mark the occasion.

The event is fittingly called Dads Fest, and it had no shortage of activities from bungee trampolines to bounce houses to tomahawk and knife throwing, just to name a few.

Event staff say the celebration is meant to help give fathers and the day named for them the attention they deserve.

"I heard on the radio yesterday that the spending for Mother's Day is so much higher than Father's Day on celebration and gifts. So, we wanted to give dads something special that they could enjoy too." said Travis Ryan with Good News Assembly of God.

Ryan says this is the event's second year and has grown in size and scope from the previous year. He also says the church is considering making the event annual.
