As the cold weather season draws ever closer, many folks thoughts are turning to heating their homes.
After being nominated by their local neighborhood, one Ishpeming family got their home heated for free. The Heat UP Wisconsin campaign, put on by Hudson Mechanical and Lennox, installed a brand new, high-efficiency furnace into the household basement. This will replace the previous 30-year-old furnace. The work was done by volunteers.
"This is such a blessing. I can't tell you what a blessing this is for us," said home owner, Shirley Hicks. "All of these men donated their time today. They're not getting anything out of this. I certainly hope that the good that all of these people have done will come back to them, because they deserve it." Last year the campaign gave away 72 furnaces to those in need of heat in the U.P. and northeast Wisconsin. This year, they aim to give away 100.
