The Ishpeming Negaunee Chamber of Commerce is rolling out a brand new 5K for their summer fundraiser this year.
They are replacing the Suicide Hill Mud Plunge with the Northern Lights Rave Run. Rave runs are fun night time 5Ks with bright neon lights and costumes. They are becoming increasingly popular around the country.
There will be Frisbee golf, an obstacle course, and a chance to win a tablet by conquering the quarter pipe before the run begins. All participants are encouraged to dress up in bright colors and fun costumes.
"It's something new here; it's never been done before," says Ashley Geist, communications coordinator. "We've looked at all the pictures from it and it looks like it's a great time. We're excited to bring something to the area that's fresh and exciting. We hope that everybody will get creative with it."
The Rave Run will be at Al Quaal Recreation Area on August 23.
The Kids Race will begin at 8 p.m. with the 5K beginning at 9 p.m. The cost to run is $20 for kids and $30 for adults.
