Emergency responders of Marquette County were out in full force in Ishpeming Township for National Night Out. Sheriff's deputies, firefighters and other personnel cooked up free food. There was also live music and other activities for families to enjoy.
The event has been getting bigger every year. This year they expect a crowd of about 1,000 people to show up.
"I think the families all around here know each other. It gets around by word we're more close knit. We just want to get the families out, see what's out in the community, see what we're all about, what we have to deal with everyday, how our vehicles look. It's fun!" said firefighter Travis Allen.
Kids got a chance to get their face painted, go for a free ride on a firetruck, and jump around in a bounce house. This was the eighth year for the night out. New this year were the Coast Guard and Sheriff Department Search and Rescue boats.
