It's time to buy a new fishing license!
Fishing licenses are valid from today to march 31st of next year.
There are some small differences in the licenses this year.
Prices for a license have changed for the first time in over 15 years.
Now, they're $26 apiece.
That's $2 less.
Also, you no longer have to buy either a Restricted or an All-Species license.
There's just the All-Species license.
Restricted licenses were $15, but since they're no longer available, everyone must buy the $26 All-Species.
The extra money will be used to increase staff, improve infrastructure at fish hatcheries, and generate one million dollars in grants for aquatic habitat improvements.
"Anglers are going to see a big difference in the amount of field work we can do, in the quality of the fisheries that we have in Michigan. You know we have a great reputation for world-class fishing here. We needed this money to be able to maintain that reputation," said Debbie Munson-Badini, a Spokeswoman for the D.N.R.
You can purchase a fishing license either online, at your local D.N.R. Office, or at a license retailer.
