Jig It! is coming to Delta County this weekend

The annual Delta County ice fishing tournament, Jig It!, is taking place this Saturday on Little Bay De Noc. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the competition starting at 11.

Men, women and children are encouraged to take part in this family-friendly event. There will be warming tents, raffles and food available.

For the second year, Jig It! will be featuring their under-the-ice kids fishing pond. For five dollars, kids have the opportunity to fish in a controlled environment. Equipment and bait for the kids is provided.

New this year is the High Roller fishing contest. Teams of two have the opportunity to fish for 10 minuets in the kid pond for $100. The heaviest weight of three fish will win the money prize.

Jig It! benefits the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area organization.

â??We have people from all over that come,â?? said executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area, Tanya Ettenhofer. â??So, we have people staying at hotels, using our gas stations, our bait shops. So, we're also bringing people into the community and helping. Itâ??s a win, win in helping both of us.â??
