The Upper Peninsula Diabetes Outreach Network is looking for volunteers to help at their annual Swim Teal Lake event. Swim Teal Lake is the outreach network's fundraiser to raise money for the programs and projects that they are involved in. The swim will be held on July 26th at 8:30AM and it is suggested that swimmers raise $75 in donations to participate. They want 50-70 kayakers to be stationed across the lake to support the swimmers and keep them on track.
"When you're swimming open water for 2 1/4 miles its easy to get off track so the kayakers are there to keep people on track and to keep them safe," UPDON Director Ann Constance said.
If you would like to volunteer you can call UPDON at 906-228-9203. The outreach network would like kayakers to show up at 8AM before the swim and bring water and a flotation device for swimmers.
