Keep up your swing this winter

UP Sportsplex on 1110 Wright Street in Marquette

Losing some of your swing during Upper Michigan??s long winters will now be a thing of the past thanks to UP Sportsplex. It??s a new facility opening on Wright Street in Marquette offering over 20,000 square ft. of indoor athletic activities.

"We're going to offer several programs from youth to adult," said general manager Doug Smith.

If you're wondering what sports you could play it may be better to ask what you can't play because the facility has a wide list that includes lacrosse, tennis, soccer, hockey and both a batting and driving cage. There will even be designated roller skating nights on the weekends.

"Old school four wheel roller skates," Smith said happily. "We're even going to put in a disco ball."

"There will be a lot of programs offered to the community and our region for indoor sports in Marquette," added Smith.

The facility will also offer training programs and lessons with professional athletes and even leagues for both youth and adult.

Smith believed with the "long winters" in the U.P. an indoor facility "just makes sense."

"We're excited to launch this business and open it up to the public," Smith stated.

UP Sportsplex is completing its final touches including their pricing which has not been determined.

The public is invited to their official open house September 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
