      Keeping your brain in shape

We all know that to have a healthy body, we need to exercise and eat right.

But how do you keep your brain healthy?

Doctors say exercising your brain is just as important as exercising your muscles, and they say there are plenty of ways to do it.

Doing crossword or other puzzles are good ways to improve your problem solving skills.

And doing things like memory games help as well.

But Dr. Jessica Caldwell says making sure you have variety is key.

"If you think about your brain as a collection of cells that store information, and then a collection of pathways or roads that facilitate transfer of that information or help your Brain communicate with itself, you really want to strengthen those pathways. The way to strengthen the pathways, is to practice different things," said Dr. Caldwell.

Dr. Caldwell suggests being socially active.

This can help individuals think in different ways, by being exposed to others and their way of thinking.
