The second Fun Fish Shore Derby was back on the water in Hancock on Saturday.
At least 80 kids came out to enjoy a fun day of fishing. The organizers set the derby up to get kids outside and interested in fishing and the outdoors.
"You know getting away from computers and getting out and enjoying what's out there, I mean you have the waterway, which is beautiful, you have the fishing out here, which every child loves to fish, the idea that maybe they would become more involved with it and may be future stockers to our great fishery," says organizer Mark Butke.
The event was free and kids received t-shirts for signing up. The derby began at 9 a.m. and was finished by noon. Kids got to eat lunch and get awards after fishing was over.
