Kids were gearing up for summer at the Third Annual K.I. Sawyer Bike Carnival and Health Fair Thursday evening. The kids were able to get their bikes repaired, washed, decorated and take them for a spin. In addition to the bike carnival, fourteen organizations were on hand to give out information on different aspects of health. Organizers say this is a great way for the kids to kick off summer.
"It's a good community event. It's nice to see the kids out, have their parents out. Beautiful weather. There's helmet safety; just making sure that their bikes are in good working order," said organizer, Beth Bond.
Organizers try to plan this event as close to the end of the school year as possible. This year the students summer vacation begins on June 1.
