Lakestate Industries is up and running at its new location in Chocolay Township. On Wednesday Lakestate held a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new facility. Lakestate Industries' mission is to help people with mental and physical disabilities with employment to connect them to the community. They specialize in cleaning services, document shredding and making Yooper fire starters among other services. Lakestate also held a strategic planning meeting to brainstorm ideas on how the grow their business in the Marquette area.
"The reason we're here is because there's a need here in the Marquette area," Business Development and Community Engagement Manager for Lakestate Industries Shelby Bischoff said. "There's a lot of underlying things going on within the community and we're asking our community members to come together and help us grow our business and expand our business."
The longtime Escanaba company's new expansion is located on Highway M28 in Chocolay Township.
