L'Anse High School is putting the final touches on the new football field behind the school for their first game of the season on August 28.
The school district has been working on replacing the old field for a number of years through various grants and help from the community. Lighting, bleachers, and a scoreboard still need to be installed as well as painting the field. The school is also still working on its brick paver project to replace the steps leading to the field to be installed next season.
"We're getting the basics on the field for the season so that our football team can play football and the community can take part in having that field," says Superintendent Carrie Meyer.
School officials say they plan to sell the old field, but so far no decisions have been finalized.
