Road construction on M-26 in the village of Laurium is entering the final stages of renovation as construction workers began laying concrete on Hecla Street this week.
The $3.1 million M-DOT project began in May and is projected to be completed by mid-October.
The historic-looking stamped concrete will extend down Hecla Street and around the corner of Third Street.
Not only are roads getting a facelift, new sidewalks and globe lighting have been installed on the street as well. Village officials say residents are getting anxious to see the final results.
??Now, we're getting into the final phase with the decorative, historic stamped concrete, so it's an exciting time,?? said village administrator Edward Vertin. ??It's good to see the process being done and actually how they put the pattern to it.??
Vertin says businesses in town are still open.
