The Senior Provider Network of Marquette County met with local legislators.
With around 13,000 senior citizens living in Marquette County, a legislative luncheon was held in Negaunee to talk about the best ways to fund the services that help keep seniors in their homes. During the meeting, the service providers said they work together and share their resources. Senior citizens were also at the meeting and voiced their concerns.
"The essential services to senior citizens and people who are caretakers to senior citizens, all these agencies need funding, and it would be a disaster to see these services go away," said Marquette County senior, George Ruuska.
The current federal budget cuts include less funding for home delivered meals for seniors across the country.
