Little boy receives new heart, and second chance

There is good news for the family of a child who was in desperate need of a new heart.

Nine-year-old Griffin Helsten received a heart transplant late Sunday night. Helsten had been diagnosed with a rare heart condition not typically seen in children.

Family members say he's recovering very well at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee.

A fundraiser will be held by the family at the Ishpeming Armory on Saturday, February 25. The event will run from 2 until 8 p.m. and will feature music and activites, as well as a spaghetti dinner.
