Students at the Marquette Alternative High School were allowed to sport crazy socks Wednesday, all aimed at helping the homeless. It's their "Rock the Socks" event taking place this week. The school started the fundraiser last year to collect socks for homeless residents. Last year 2,900 socks were donated collectively from the school districts of Marquette, Negaunee, NICE, Ishpeming and North Star Academy.
"Our school know that there's people out there that need them; I mean, some of us at school even need them. So it's just caring and knowing that others around you need help, too," said MAHS junior, Shawn Harry.
Sock donations will be collected through Friday at more than 15 locations in Marquette County. The full list of schools and businesses participating as drop off sites can be found below:
