Local students showcase their artistic skills

The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center is featuring the work of area high school students with their latest exhibit.

Tuesday was the opening of the center's new high school art show. The show features paintings, drawings, and ceramic work of area students. Marquette Senior High School, Graveraet and North Star Academy all submitted students' artwork.

"For a lot of these kids, this is the first show that they've ever had where their work is exhibited," said Amy Lakanen of the MACC. "If you're going to come to the gallery and check out art, this is a great time to do it, just to give these kids the boost they need, just to see the caliber of talent that some of the students in our area have."

The show is in the Arts and Culture Center located in the lower level of the Peter White Public Library. The work will be on display through the end of the month with a special reception on April 25.
