Logging truck and SUV collide, two injured

Wreckage from a crash involving a logging truck and SUV in Marquette, Michigan

Two women in an SUV were involved in a crash with a logging truck Thursday afternoon. The crash happened on Wright Street in Marquette Township around 3:15 p.m.

According to police, the 18-year-old woman driving the SUV lost control of her vehicle. She then hit a Holli logging truck, driven by a 67-year-old man, traveling in the opposite direction.

The 67-year-old truck driver noticed the SUV sliding towards him and jack-knifed his truck in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to get the 18-year-old woman and her 19-year-old female passenger out of the SUV. They were taken by ambulance to Marquette General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
