After 36 years of business, a makeover is underway for Frei Chevrolet in Marquette. They are expanding and remodeling to enhance customer interaction.
Owner Jim Grundstrom says a new building will give the service department an extra 9,000 square feet.
"It's a very exciting time for our dealership; it's very exciting for our 50 employees. We are all looking very much forward to the remodel and the outcome, and it's just a breath of fresh air," said Grundstrom.
The new building will add more technician bays. People will be able to drive into the department for service.
The showroom is getting remodeled, and offices will be behind a glass wall, giving the room a new look. Officials say the makeover is expected to result in a 10 to 20 percent monthly growth, which means more business.
Grundstrom says the changes will attract people from out of town. That's more money into our local economy.
Marquette Township Planner, Jason McCarthy, says when one business makes improvements, others are inclined to do the same, increasing business along the corridor of US-41.
"We have had some substantial improvements to facades, circulation parking, and we hope to keep improving that for the township residents," said McCarthy
It's expected to be finished by in March.
