The boats and fishing poles are all set for the 8th annual Lake Trout Festival in L'Anse.
The festival starts and ends at the Waterfront Park in L'Anse. Anglers can start at 5 a.m. and try to catch the biggest lake trout or salmon for cash prizes. Plenty of activities are lined up for the rest of the family back on shore, including pie eating contests, a volleyball tournament and food and drinks that will be available.
"The people who come here year after year, and when one comes almost every one comes back each year, they come just for the fun of it," said organizer Steve Koski. "It's a great weekend and our salmon fishing and lake trout fishing is extremely good, our salmon fishing is the best it has been right now in years."
The Lake Trout Festival coincides with the Free Fishing weekend in Michigan, meaning no fishing license is needed. For more information on the festival you can head over Lake Trout Festival's website here.
