      Loud explosion alerts firefighters to blazing house fire

      Police responded to the scene of a fire on Friday morning after residents nearby reported a loud explosion.

      Emergency crews responded at around 3:30 a.m. CST on Friday to a home on Scott Lake Road after being notified of a loud explosion in the area. When crews arrived they found a seasonal home engulfed in flames. The home and all of its contents are considered a total loss.

      There were no people home at the time of the fire and no injuries were received by fire crews, according to the Michigan State Police.

      The West Iron County Fire Department and Michigan State Police responded to the scene. A fire investigation unit is examining the case to determine the cause of the blaze.
