Louisiana murder suspect arrested in Upper Michigan

An Ironwood Township man remains in the Ontonagon County Jail as of Monday night on murder charges.

He was arrested last Friday on a warrant from the Baton Rouge Police Department. The Ironwood native was a wanted fugitive for first-degree murder in Louisiana following a 2012 murder on Sharlo Avenue in Baton Rouge.

The now 20-year-old man has been identified as Mason Chiapuzio, according to WAFB. According to the article, Chiapuzio is wanted in connection to a shooting death that happened on April 15, 2012.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff's Office, Baton Rouge Police and the US Marshals Office were contacted but were not able to provide any more information.
