The 62-year-old man accused of holding his wife hostage at gunpoint in a nine hour police standoff has been granted an extended plea date.

Delta County Circuit Court has granted John Sarasin until September 20 to enter a plea. If no plea is entered, a trial date will be set.

Sarasin was charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault with a dangerous weapon, commission of a felony while in possession of a firearm and preventing or obstructing a communication by telephone.

His brother, Daryl Sarasin, was also arrested in connection with the case. He was charged with obstruction of justice and has pled guilty.
